Our Mission

Welcome to the NEW North Point Association. We started this new organization some time ago. We see problems as well as areas for improvement in our communities. Often, we hear complaints about the problems and talk about what needs to be done but nothing is being done to fix problems and make things better. We’ve found we can accomplish more when residents and communities work together. That’s our motto “Stronger By Working Together”.

We welcome any community or environmental association that wants to join us. It could be the Avenue C Group, a larger area like the Lodge Forest Area, or an entire community like Sparrows Point. We work with those from north of Eastpoint to Fort Howard, from Bear Creek to Back River but are open to any other nearby groups that want to join us. Each group will have one representative on our Executive Committee. There is no cost to be a member organization. When faced with the need for support to solve a problem or make an improvement, your group can bring the issue to our Executive Committee and we can all work together to help solve the problem or make the improvement. This is especially important when dealing with major issues that affect many of our communities like school overcrowding, involvement in new school construction, the need for more recreational fields, trying to halt home construction until overcrowding has been resolved, and environmental problems. A list of some of our accomplishments is shown to the right >>>. Some were for individual communities and others affected many of our communities.

Some groups are “Umbrella Groups”. They believe they control communities and can make decisions for your community without your input. Ours is a “Service Group”. We will work with your community or group to help you but it’s your community, so you have to make your own decisions. You live, own a business, and pay taxes in your community so you have to decide what’s best for you, not us.

We hope you will want to join us. If you represent a community or group that wants to join us, send an email to [email protected] If you’re an individual, annual dues are $1, for a business dues are $10, anyone or business that wants to advertise with us and have your business card on our website and in other advertising, annual dues are $25. You can join on the Membership tab.

Some organizations have had over $20,000 or more in their bank account for years. We believe any money we have should be used to make improvements in our communities. At the end of each year, if we have more than $2,000 in our General Fund, the excess will be distributed equally among our member community and environmental groups (those that are 501c3, that’s an IRS requirement).

We plan to create Committees for specific community interests. See the information to the right >>>. We don’t believe in saving information for monthly newsletters or meetings. As we have information, we’ll email the information to all of our members quickly so you’ll be up-to-date on local events and meetings. We will have meetings when we have important topics. For minor topics, rather than taking an hour of your time at a meeting for a topic that may not interest many people, we’ll video that presentation and post it online. Those interested can watch it but we don’t want to waste the time of those who aren’t interested.
